FIVE CASES WHERE YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT CHANGING YOUR TIRES

FIVE CASES WHERE YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT CHANGING YOUR TIRES

5 CASES WHERE TO CONSIDER CHANGING THE TIRES

There are several signs, some very obvious and others not so much, that tell us that we should change the tires on our car.

It is very important not to skimp on expenses when our safety is at stake, since it is not worth saving a few euros and increasing the risk of an accident at all.

Therefore, we must consider changing the tires in the cases below.

1- If you have exceeded the legal wear

  • If the tires on your vehicle are not equal to or greater than 1.6 millimeters deep, then you have exceeded the legal wear.
  • On the other hand, it is dangerous that on the same axle (for example the front wheels), there is a very new tire on one side and a very worn one on the other.
  • The law says that between them there cannot be a difference of more than 5 millimeters.
  • If for example your right front tire has a depth of 8 millimeters and your left front tire has a depth of 2 millimeters, there would be a difference of 6 millimeters, which is illegal.

2- If your tires are old

  • Perhaps on more than one occasion you have seen how a tire becomes hard and dry over time. Maybe it preserves the drawing and the depth, but it is still dangerous to go with them.
  • When they become hard and dry, grip worsens, they are more likely to skid and are more likely to suffer a puncture. The reason is because rubber loses elasticity.
  • If that's your case, it's time to change the tires.

3- If your tires suffer uneven wear

  • There are times when a tire wears more in one area than another, such as the central part, or the sides. The truth is that once the irregular wear has occurred, there is no way to fix it, and the wear continues evenly, even if the part that caused it has been repaired.
  • It is easy to see when there is a very worn area and that surprisingly another continues to maintain its depth.
  • When this happens, it usually indicates that there is a mechanical problem behind it, such as poor wheel balance or inadequate pressure.
  • Do not hesitate to contact a professional if you notice any signs of irregularity in your tires.

4- If you have suffered a puncture in one of your tires

  • When a tire is punctured, you must first assess the damage.
  • A professional should verify that the inner membrane has not been damaged before repairing any tire. If it has been damaged, you should replace it immediately.

5- If any of your tires are damaged

  • The tires of our car are the part most exposed to direct damage, since they are in permanent contact with the ground.
  • An impact against a sidewalk or an object, any deformation or cut can seriously damage our tires.
  • If any of your tires have been damaged, see a professional to examine it and make the right decision.
