WHEN TO CHANGE ONE, TWO OR ALL FOUR TIRES TOGETHER?

WHEN TO CHANGE ONE, TWO OR ALL FOUR TIRES TOGETHER?

HOW TO KNOW WHEN TO CHANGE ALL TIRES

To improve the grip, handling and performance of your vehicle, we recommend fitting four identical or similar tires. If your tires are not identical, one of the trains may not respond as quickly or in the same way as the other, making full control of the vehicle difficult.

When to change a single tire

At in2tires we want you to always be safe when using your car, so we inform you about when to change the car tires yourself, if necessary.

To improve the grip, handling and performance of your vehicle, we recommend fitting four identical or similar tires. If your tires are not the same, one of the trains may not respond as quickly or in the same way as the other, making full control of the vehicle difficult.

If you have suffered a puncture or one of the tires is too damaged, or if you have suffered an accident, it is mandatory to replace it.

The new tire must have the same specificities as the previous one and be of the same brand, have the same profile / structure, the same speed / weight indexes and of course the same dimensions.

Accuracy of the Highway Code:

"The difference between the depth of the main grooves of two tires mounted on the same axle must not exceed 5 millimeters." Because if not, the behavior in rainy situations is radically different and can dramatically affect the ability to control the car.

When to change only two tires

If two of your tires have reached maximum wear, you must replace them with identical or similar tires for functionality. We always recommend that you choose tires with the same characteristics as those found on your vehicle.

Where to mount new (or less worn) tires at the rear or at the front?

There are two theories about it:

1. Positioning on the rear axle: It is more difficult for the driver to control the loss of grip of the rear wheels. Fitting new tires on the rear axle makes it possible to balance the grip between the two axles and thus increase your safety: by operating the steering wheel, the front axle is controlled, even if the grip is weaker, while the new tires provide optimal grip on the rear axle.

2. Fitting on the front axle: For us, we always recommend fitting new or better condition tires on the front axle. In this way we always ensure that we can control the vehicle, and that it responds to changes in the direction of travel. With this, we could more easily overcome obstacles that arise until we can stop the vehicle to replace the tires in bad condition.

It is important that when you change two wheels on your vehicle, you ask your workshop manager why one of the tires has worn faster than the other, since it may be a consequence of one of the axles not being properly balanced and the parallelism of the car is deviated. Balancing the car is not a problem, your workshop can correct it without much difficulty.

In2tires recommends not waiting for the tire to show extreme wear, as hydroplaning is much more frequent in the event of rain. Keep in mind the recommended limits of 2.0 millimeters - or 3.0 millimeters for a wide tire.

Maximum tolerable wear:

All tires have a witness in the grooves that indicate the maximum tolerable wear. "The 1.6 millimeter wear indicator indicates the legal minimum rubber height."

When to change all four tires

If your four tires eventually wear out at the same time, you have more flexibility when choosing new tires.

If you are satisfied with your used tires, you can choose them. Otherwise, if you want you can choose and change for another profile or another brand, you will have to find out if they can be adapted to your vehicle. This way you can choose tires that are stronger, more comfortable, more efficient, depending on the criteria you are looking for and the way you drive.

Once you know how many tires to change, you must determine the size and type of tires you are looking for. We recommend that when making this change, you proceed to the comprehensive balancing and alignment check of the vehicle.

What matters more? quality or price?

If you think that the tire that best suits your vehicle is too expensive compared to another brand, do not forget to include in the price of the tires criteria such as longevity, performance, comfort, quality, etc.

At in2tires we have the best tire search engine that can be adapted to your needs and if you have any questions, we will be happy to assist you so that you can find your ideal product at the best price.

What will be the additional cost per kilometer that cheaper tires will cause you?

At in2tires we recommend your ideal tires depending also on the km you want to do.

In case you are going to travel more than 30,000 kilometers, keep in mind that the tires may be more expensive than those that are not prepared to circulate that distance, you must bear in mind that if the tires do not support the route, you will spend more than double in another game in addition to the damage that may be caused to the vehicle.

At in2tires we care about your safety and we offer you the best tires at the best price.
