This compound fulfills the function of sealing the tire if any nail eventually enters through that route. The air pressure and the soft compound would press on the nail walls sealing the air leak. In this way, the complete loss of air is avoided, and the driver can continue driving the vehicle almost without noticing the difference. This type of tire is identified with the acronym SEAL, for its self-sealing characteristic. The difference with a normal one and of the same design, is exactly the same at the level of behavior. The only thing that varies is the weight, for the additional product included in its structure.

b) Run Flat tires themselves are those that include a rubber reinforcement on the sides or walls of the tire. The technical concept is then, that these lateral supplements, support the weight of the vehicle and allow driving even with the flat tire. Therefore, this additional reinforcement varies according to each tire and the weight of each vehicle to which it is intended. From the driver's point of view, a gradual or sudden loss of air will be transmitted to the steering wheel, feeling a slight instability while driving, which will lead to reduced speed at 80/90 km / h. Unlike the previous ones, these tires are perceived as more rigid in daily driving.

c) Run Flat tires for armored vehicles. These are tires that include an additional and internal support, which is placed on the tire in such a way that if the tire deflates, the vehicle is supported on this structure, being able to continue driving, several kilometers without stopping. The feeling behind the wheel would be to be driving on wheel bearings, since the air and rubber damping is completely lost. Maximum speeds are limited by the presence of rising temperature.
