FARM TIRES - FOREST - HARVEST - RICE - FARM IMPLEMENTS

Agricultural tires, for tractors, combines, bulk carriers or agricultural implements are developed with the highest technology, with the aim of maximizing their resistance, performance and durability. They have well differentiated characteristics, generating advantages that translate into the greater number of hours worked, less soil compaction, fuel economy and cost reduction for the farmer.

The most significant differences are given in the construction of the tire. Historically the structure of the spinning of the tire was diagonal, generating a cross seen the front tire. This type of construction, also called BIAS, gave the tire a great structural strength, but it reduced its flexibility. In agricultural vehicles (tractors and combines), this structural rigidity transmitted the engine vibrations to the ground, multiplying the compaction capacity by cm2. Technological evolution led to the development of tires with radial structure, as well as what is used in car and truck tires. This development allowed greater flexibility in the sides of the tire, significantly reducing the compaction capacity of the ground, without losing the traction benefits.

The following table shows how one type of construction is distinguished from the other:

DIAGONAL (BIAS)

RADIAL

In terms of design, much work has been done by modifying angles of attack of the tires, in the frequency per linear meter and in the height of the tires. This thanks to the development of new compounds and specific polymers.

ALAPA (Latin American Tire and Rim Association), ETRTO (European Tire and Rim Technical Organization) and TRA (Tire and Rim Association) are technical groups that set standards for tire and tire manufacturers and define codes to identify the application for which agricultural tire was developed.

The codes identify:

  • Type of service
  • Type of tread
  • Relative tread depth

Therefore, depending on the use in each agricultural vehicle, a specific tire corresponds to it: single or double traction tractors, harvesters, coffee harvesters, sugar cane harvesters, olives harvesters, bulk carriers, pulverizers, agricultural implements, pivot irrigation , cane hopper.
