A BATTERY IS AN ELECTRIC ACCUMULATOR THAT ACCUMULATES CHEMICAL ENERGY AND THEN CONVERTS IT TO ELECTRICAL ENERGY.

FUNCTION:

Its main function in motor vehicles is to supply electrical energy to the vehicle's starter and ignition system, as well as to supply the entire electrical system when the engine is not running.

It also helps the alternator, for a specified time, if for some reason it fails to supply all of the necessary electrical current.

And it stabilizes the voltage of the electrical system as a whole. The battery temporarily reduces and softens high voltages that can damage vehicle electronics.

COMPONENTS

BOX: A battery box is made up of glasses and has the function of conditioning the groups formed by the plates. Normally a car battery consists of 6 glasses / elements and each one has 2.1 volts, which connected in series total 12.6 volts (in the case of a fully charged battery).

CHARGE INDICATOR: The charge indicator is embedded in the cover and has the function of indicating the state of charge of the battery. CONNECTIONS: The connections are responsible for interconnecting the plates of the same polarity within the same group and for interconnecting each group with its subsequent one, in series, forming the 12 volt batteries. The batteries have a central connection with a 36% greater welding area than the competition, providing greater resistance to vibrations and ease of starting.

COVER: The cover has the function of keeping the vessels sealed, preventing the electrolyte from leaving the interior of the battery for the external environment or the entry of foreign substances. The covers can even be conventional or sealed.

  • Conventional lids. Conventional caps have plugs with a hole for the exit of gases generated inside the battery and allow access to the electrolyte.
  • Sealed lids. The sealed cover guarantees the tightness of the electrolyte. It has a system that allows the release of gases from the interior of the battery and a condensation chamber responsible for making the water evaporated during use condense and return to the battery vessels, reducing the loss of electrolyte. The process of sealing the lid with the box is carried out by means of thermo fusion, then tested with compressed air to guarantee maximum sealing.

PLATE: The set of the grid plus the active mass is called the plate. The positive and negative plates have different impositions and are sandwiched in the block, separated by an insulating material called the 'spacer'.

ELECTROLYTE: The electrolyte is a solution of sulfuric acid with a density that varies according to its application. ANTI-FLAME PAD: The anti-flame pill allows the gases produced during the use of the battery to escape, protecting it against the entry of sparks that cause total damage such as explosion.

GROUP OF PLATES: The group of plates is formed by the set of positive plates, negative plates and separators that, interconnected by connections, are stored inside the battery vessels. The composition of each group produces 2.1 volts in open circuit and with full load, therefore, in a 6-vessel battery these groups total an average of 12.6 volts.

The batteries use high-sheath-type polyethylene separators, which offer greater mechanical resistance to vibrations, less electrical resistance and greater protection against chemical actions of the acid.

TERMINAL POLES: The poles are responsible for the input and output of the energy accumulated in the battery through charging and discharging. The poles are extremely important as they make the final contact of the battery with the vehicle's electrical system. The manufacturing process of the hubs of the battery poles results from a smoother and more homogeneous surface, with less porosity. This process prevents the migration of sulfuric acid out of the battery, preventing sulfation.
